Meols Hall wedding photography.
We are delighted to share a selection of images from Melissa and Chris’s wedding at Meols Hall, Southport. On the morning of the wedding we headed up to to cover the preparations before we arrived at Meols Hall for the ceremony and reception. We have never shot at Meols Hall before so it was good to have the experience and challenge that shooting at a venue for the first time brings. The weather was lovely and the light inside the barn was just beautiful. Although it was rather dark inside, it provided a lovely ambient light. It had a real sense of chiaroscuro (which is Italian for light/dark, a style of painting pioneered by Caravaggio in the 16th century) which, in my opinion, always looks absolutely stunning in images. The venue staff were great and Sue and Pam really did make everyone feel welcome. When it came to the group shots after the ceremony, Melissa and Chris had only specified a handful so we managed to cover them in around 15 minutes. Just as we finished them, Sue, from Meols Hall, told me that they had allowed us an hour to do “the photographs”. I told her we had already done them! She was totally amazed saying that normally the group shots take photographers at least 45 minutes to an hour to get through! Needless to say, I was delighted to break that trend! It again highlighted why we are so passionate about documentary wedding photography. A wedding is about a couple celebrating their love with all the people they love and who love them joining them. It is NOT about photographers taking over and making the day about them and their job. It’s always good to know we have succeeded in remaining low profile.
